How Do You Start a Biker Rally?

A guy posted a message on another biker forum asking how does one go about starting their own biker rally...

Does anyone here have the gumption or experience of putting together a Biker Rally.

I spoke to the owner of Barrett Junction a few months ago. He asked me questions on how he could get something started at his facility. Most of his business on the weekends are riders stopping in for food and drink.

He also owns the lot across the street and would really like to put an event together. I told him to contact some of the Harley Dealers but so far I have not seen or heard anything.

This would be a great place for a rally however there is not any lodging nearby. I would think maybe a campout type rally.

I am not good at putting things like this together but you never know what could happen if someone started it.

This person is talking about "Barrett Junction Cafe", a popular place in Southern California for bikers to cool off under the shade. It's on Highway 94, very close to the Mexican border.

I have no experience with starting rallies. I know some cities hire a promotions company to set up and manage the whole thing. But Barrett Junction Cafe is a small place and probably couldn't afford to hire a company.

One thing that Barrett Junction Cafe has going for itself is that it actually owns a good sized lot. The problem with many rallies these days is that when it's held on public grounds, EVERYONE is invited. That poses a problem for local law enforcement. But if you hold it on private property, in an area far from civilization, then you can limit the attendance and not need the police. The Redwood Run is a perfect example.

Anyone have any thoughts on how to get something like that started on a low budget?
